A cooperative run by its members
At Oasis Sauvé there is no outside landlord. Members elect their board of directors, vote on the important decisions at the general meeting, and take part day to day through committees and work days.
The board of directors
The board of directors is elected by the members at the annual general meeting. It brings together standard roles (president, secretary, treasurer, and directors) and handles the day-to-day management of the cooperative between meetings, within the decisions made collectively. The board also designates a privacy officer responsible for the protection of personal information (Law 25), whose contact details appear on the "Privacy" page.
The annual general meeting
The annual general meeting is where the cooperative’s key decisions are made. Members vote on the budget, review the monthly housing charges, and elect the board of directors. Each member has one vote, whatever their unit.
The committees
Between meetings, the life of the cooperative rests on standing committees. Every member can get involved according to their interests and talents.
Finances
Budget management, financial planning, and maintaining a security cushion.
Member Selection
Welcoming and integrating new members according to cooperative values.
Education
Ongoing training on the cooperative model and community life.
Maintenance
Coordinating annual work bees and regular upkeep of common spaces.
Annual work days
Participation does not stop at committees. Each year, members come together for work days (corvées): upkeep of the common areas, the outdoor spaces, and the buildings. This shared work keeps housing charges low and strengthens the sense of belonging.
